City Schools, in partnership with the Baltimore City Health Department will purchase and implement two evidence-based sexual health education programs for students in middle grades and high school next school year. Implementation of the new programs will occur in health classes and begin next fall.
This project will be supported by a 5-year, $8.5 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Adolescent Health. The primary goal of this project is to decrease the teen pregnancy rate by 30% over the next 5 years. Principals, please share the attached one-pager with your health teachers, staff and school community.The research-based program Making Proud Choices will be implemented in all high school health education courses. Making Proud Choices consists of 10 hours of content over the course of 10 lessons. A middle school program will be taught during one quarter of health education in selected middle grades next school year.
