Safe passage for students
All principals and assistant principals
It is essential that students are supported in leaving school positioned to make good decisions and to get home safely. Providing that support means reaching out to families to ask them to encourage students to go straight home following school or their regular after-school activities, intervening if staff hear students talking about participating in violence, law-breaking, or other such activities, and alerting City Schools of barriers your students may be facing going to and from the school building.
To assist you and your staff in ensuring students’ safe passage, the following are available:
- A script template for communicating with parents via the ParentLink robocall system
- Online resources for teachers to assist them in navigating sensitive conversations with students
In the event that you identify barriers for your students in going to and from school, please alert your executive director immediately for support.
