2015 Extended School Year (ESY)
All principals | Deadlines: ongoing through April 1
ESY provides individualized extensions of specific services beyond the regular school year, designed to ensure that students with disabilities maintain academic skills over the summer. ESY services are provided as part of a free, appropriate public education in accordance with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for students exhibiting the need for special education, related services, or both.
The Special Education department previously shared the key dates included in this document with IEP chairs. Principals are asked to ensure that IEP chairs complete the following tasks:
- Adhere to the tasks and dates described in the timeline and in the end-of-year manual
- Attend training on the electronic ESY application process
- Make diligent efforts to obtain letters of intent from parents
For questions, please contact the Special Education department at 410-396-8900.
