Leadership talent development initiative

City Schools is launching an initiative to support principals in preparing school staff for leadership roles. In a four-session professional development series led by experienced school leaders, participating principals will learn how to identify their highest potential staff, create opportunities to develop talented staff's leadership skills, and leverage staffing and budget resources to create strong distributive leadership structures. The sessions will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 120 of the district office (200 E. North Avenue) on the following dates:
- Monday, February 23
- Monday, March 9
- Monday, March 16
- Monday, March 23
Principals interested in participating should complete this brief online application by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6 (new extended deadline), explaining their interest and what they hope to achieve through the initiative. It is recommended that participating principals have at least two years of experience in their current building. (For those interested in learning more before applying, an information session was scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 120 of the district office.) An application has been submitted for leadership units to be awarded for participation and completion of this opportunity and is pending approval from the Joint Governance Panel and Joint Oversight Committee.
