• WIDA ACCESS assessment update

All principals | Deadline: February 15

All students enrolled in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are required by the Maryland State Department of Education to take the WIDA ACCESS, which assesses English language proficiency. The testing window opened on January 12 and runs through Sunday, February 15. All WIDA ACCESS materials have been delivered to school testing coordinators.

ESOL teachers and school testing coordinators are responsible for creating WIDA testing schedules. It is the expectation that school leaders will provide appropriate support so that ESOL teachers can have schedules cleared to complete the WIDA tests. Please note that ESOL teachers should not be required to proctor local benchmark assessments or High School Assessments until WIDA testing is completed.

For assistance, please email Jill Basye-Featherston or John Neubauer in the Teaching and Learning department.
