My name is Mrs. Li (Li Lao Shi), and I am the 4th Grade Chinese Immersion (4C) homeroom teacher in BIA. I am very glad to have your child in my class during 2017-2018 school year. I am writing you about 4C Homework and Positive Behavior Reinforcement in our class.
For parents that do not know me yet, my bechelor’s degree was majore in Chinese Language &Literature.I used to be a licenced middle school teacher in China since 2005. After I moved to America with my family, I keep teaching Chinese as a second foreign language about 9 years until I came to our BIA school.
Students in 4C will have a weekly homework packet. Weekly homework packet will be given on Mondays and it will be due on Fridays of the same week. The assignments are in two categories: Language Art and Math. Students will receive two assignments, one for each category each day from Monday to Thursday. As parent or guardian, please have your child complete his/her homework each day, and send it back on Fridays. Besides, we strongly encourage students to read to you for at least 15 minutes every day (in English). You are also encouraged to discuss with your child about the reading.
In addition to academic learning, I will be reinforcing positive behavior throughout the day in school. There will be a monthly behavior calendar in the folder. Every day, your child will earn a stamp for his/her behavior. Blue stamp is for outstanding behavior (no warning), green stamp is for good behavior, yellow stamp is for inappropriate behavior and red stamp is for very inappropriate behavior. Students who receive only blue or green stamps in the week will be allowed to have a treat from the treasure box on every Friday. (If you have any unwanted toys, we would appreciate to have your donation).
We look forward to having a great year with your child in our school. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I will get in touch you as soon as possible. Thanks.
