Online safety

  • Working on computer
Technology is an important tool used in many classrooms around the district. When working online on a computer or another device in school, students are often reminded by teachers about internet safety. But it's important to keep kids safe while using the internet outside of school, too. Following are links to several organizations that offer great tips for keeping kids safe when they're online and on social media.

Internet Safety (The National Crime Prevention Council)

Keep children safe online (US Computer Emergency Readiness Team)

    FOSI (Family Online Safety Institute)

NetSmartz (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children®)

    iKeepSafe (Internet Keep Safe Coalition)

    Social Media Customer Use Guidelines

There are lots of ways City Schools delivers information to families, including social media (TwitterVimeo, and Facebook). When communicating with City Schools on social media, you are agreeing to the district's Social Media Customer Use Guidelines. Please email communications@bcps.k12.md.us with any questions.
