Remember to Review Your Life Insurance Beneficiaries

Note: The May 15 edition of City Schools News incorrectly indicated that May 29, 2015, was the deadline to complete this review. Employees are actually able to change their beneficiaries at any time. We apologize for any confusion.

The Hartford, City Schools' new life insurance vendor, recently mailed an important letter to all employees requesting them to go online and confirm/update their life insurance beneficiaries. This life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance offers valuable protection to you and your family and benefits are paid according to your wishes. Therefore, it is important to properly designate your beneficiary; the person (or persons), or legal entity (or entities), who will receive the benefit payment upon approval from your group life insurance policy at your death.

To update your beneficiary designations, simply go to the secure website (www.ielect.com) and enter the following information to login for the first time:

    Employer - baltimorecityschools
Login ID - Your EE ID (put enough zeros in front of your ID to make this number 5-digits long. For example, if your ID is 34, type 00034 or if your ID is 61644, type 61644)
PIN - DOB (MM/DD/YYYY without hyphens)
The system will then allow you to designate your beneficiaries
If you have questions, please call The Hartford customer service line at 877-652-0382 (Representatives are available Monday - Friday, between 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time). (Expires: June 30, 2015)
