Food and Nutrition Services Department

The Food and Nutrition Services Department plays an important role in supporting the educational achievements of City Schools students through operation of breakfast, lunch, snack and supper programs.

102 schools will have new salad bars installed this school year, as a thank-you for meeting school goals for return of applications for Free and Reduced Price Meals. Students will now have a new, tasty, healthy and low-cost option for lunch each day!
 
 

 

Food and Nutrition Services offers the following programs to schools:

  • Universal Breakfast - All City Schools students are eligible to receive FREE breakfast. City Schools offers traditional and alternative breakfast models to meet the needs of individual schools.

  • Lunch - City Schools cafeterias offer a regular lunch menu in compliance with USDA regulations; over 84% of students are eligible for free or reduced price meals. To increase the amount of fresh produce offered at lunch, Food and Nutrition Services has started to roll out salad bars in many cafeterias.

  • Fresh Fruits & Vegetable Program - provides schools the opportunity to order a variety of fresh produce to serve in the classroom,

  • Snack & Supper Program - available to students involved in a supervised, enrichment-based afterschool programs at eligible schools.
