The Pre-Employment Office is responsible for conducting fingerprinting and required background checks of all personnel employed with Baltimore City Schools. This ensures that all hiring requirements and legal conditions are met.
Pre-Employment New Hire Orientation
Once a prospective new employee has been offered a position with City Schools, the new employee will be scheduled to attend a new hire orientation session. The following documents and items must be completed and brought to the orientation session:
Complete the I-9 form and bring two (2) acceptable forms of ID in accordance with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for employment authorization to your scheduled orientation session.
Fingerprinting/background check cost
The cost to have your fingerprinting/background check completed is $50.00 check or money order made payable to L-1 Enrollment. You may pay with a credit card by calling 1-877-467-9215 or by visiting the IndentoGo website. Credit card payments must be done in advance of your orientation session. If you choose not to pay in advance, please bring a check or money order with you to your scheduled orientation session.
ID badge information
The cost to replace a lost ID badge is $10.00. Acceptable forms of payments are:
- Personal check (made payable to Baltimore City Public Schools)
- Money Order (made payable to Baltimore City Public Schools)

New Teacher Institute
The New Teacher Institute is a week long orientation for new teachers that covers City Schools' programs and initiatives, curriculum, planning and instruction.
