    Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Kira Levitzky and I will be teaching your students the General Music curriculum from the Maryland State Department of Education. Music is my passion.
I have played the piano since I was four years old and the flute since I was 8 years old.  I won various awards in high school for my participation in Advanced Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra Pit, Advanced Orchestra, and have an International Baccalaureate diploma with a concentration in IB Music.

went to college at the University of Maryland to get a degree in Music Education.  While at college, I was selected to become the conductor of the Gamer Symphony Orchestra (an orchestra that plays the music from video games) and went on to work with video game composers such as Austin Wintory (games such as FlOw, Journey, Horn), Geoff Knorr (Civilization V), and Grant Kirkhope (all of the Donkey Kong game series music.)  I conducted the group for five years to upwards of 1,700 audience members and went on to found my own orchestra, the Baltimore Gamer Symphony Orchestra, using my own funds as the basis for the orchestra.

The Baltimore GSO and BIA have formed a partnership in order to:

    1. allow the students of BIA to utilize orchestral percussion instruments,

    2. Allow the BGSO to be Artists in Residence at BIA and provide free concerts, instrument petting zoos, and funding to the school's music department during these hard economic times.

I am now completing a Master’s degree in Kodaly General Music Education at Loyola University in Baltimore and will be able to provide BIA’s students with a well-rounded music education.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding my class, please contact me through email or call so we can schedule an appointment to meet.

I look forward to another great year with your children at BIA.

    Sincerely,

    Kira Levitzky
