FY13 Grants Inventory: Tagging and End-of-Year Report

Schools and offices that purchased equipment with grant funds must perform certain steps to document those purchases. The grants inventory and tagging process guidance document explains the procedures. Before you begin, please note the following:

    • Any school, district office or department that purchased equipment or sensitive items should tag purchases and input data into the grants inventory.
    • Inventory tags were distributed during the week of March 11 via interoffice mail.
    • The grant inventory system is accessed through the Principal's Dashboard, where requested data (e.g., serial numbers, location, date tagged, etc.) should be entered.
    • The final inventory report should be signed and submitted to Grants Administration by Sunday, June 30.

    2012-13 End-of-Year Network Perceptions Survey

As we approach the end of the 2012-13 school year, the School Support Networks would like to extend to principals an opportunity to provide feedback regarding your experience working with your network team. This survey will gather perceptual feedback from principals on the support they are receiving from their network and executive director. We are interested in your total interactions with the network team. The survey link will be sent to your City Schools email account and will be available Monday, June 3, until Friday, June 14, at 5 p.m. For more information, please contact Jonathan Brice, School Support Network Officer, at jbrice@bcps.k12.md.us.

Expectations for June Systemic Professional Development

The 2012-13 school year will close with systemic professional development on June 13 and 14, and school-based professional development on June 17. This is a critical time for all teachers to spend gaining content knowledge that will help to improve their practice for the coming school year. Participation in these dates is not optional (with the exception of SBO schools, which should follow separate guidance); all teachers were expected to register, and all registered teachers are expected to attend every session for which they registered.

Chief Academic Officer Sonja Brookins Santelises requests that all principals act as partners in this important work by ensuring that all teachers and other staff spend these days fully engaged in professional development and/or school year closing activities. Principals are not permitted to release staff members early on any of these dates.

Please read this memo from Dr. Santelises for more information regarding activities and expectations for these final three days of the school year for teachers.

These reports need to be printed and sent to your students’ parents before the end of the school year.

Individual reports are now available for you to download on TSS (Blackboard), under school data, “2012 Report Card.” The reports will also be available on Principal’s Dashboard within the next two weeks. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Carol Wilson at cwilson@bcps.k12.md.us in the Achievement and Accountability Office.

    Updates to District Letterhead

New templates of the district’s letterhead stationery reflecting the district’s new leadership will be available to download beginning July 1. In preparation for this transition, all staff are requested to destroy printed copies of letterhead that will not be used prior to July 1, and to delete digital copies of the previous letterhead template from computers and shared drives. Beginning July 1, only letterhead reflecting the new leadership should be used.

If you are preparing a communication prior to July 1 that will be mailed after that date, please email the communications team to obtain a copy of the appropriate stationery template.
