Dear BIA Family,
My name is Jessica Choi. I am the art teacher at BIA. This is my 6th year teaching and my 5th year in Baltimore City Public Schools. I got my bachelors of science degree in art education from Towson University. I’m currently getting my Masters in Educational Technology at Loyola University Maryland.
The BIA Art Education program will provide students a great experience in different forms of art. Students will learn different types of art through famous artist such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne, and many more! We will also learn the different types of art throughout history ranging from the prehistoric period to present time. Lastly, students will get the great opportunity to experience different types of medium including paint, watercolors, colored pencils, oil pastels, weaving, sculpture, and many more throughout the school year.
The art education program is designed to empower students to learn about the different types of art that surrounds us each and every day. Art is a place to get out of the normal setting and expand their minds by stepping out of the box. The program also has a significant emphasis on social behaviors so students communicate positively by exhibiting respect for all and self control. Activities are planned so each student will progress at his or her own rate in line with the National Core Art Standards.
I hope this year will be an exciting and rewarding year in art!
