The next CAO Leadership Academy will take place the week of January 30 – February 3. Registration for BTU Professionals who wish to move to the Model Pathway is now open. This registration is simply an indication of interest in the process and is not binding. to participate in this process, you must be on the Professional Pathway. System-wide Notification of OMB Circular A-87 Compliance

Principals and Grant Managers, please review this post and guidance document about completing certification affidavits for federally funded employees, as required by the Office of Management and Budget.

Please see this guidance document about the FY'12 school system notification for the annual Office of Management and Budget (OMB) certification process. And please note the following:  any employee paid using federal funds must be certified twice a year; the guidelines provide a step-by-step process for completing the certification; reports for the first certification will be forwarded to you the week of January 23; a sample template and document are provided in the guidelines; and any employee who is split-funded must maintain time and effort logs.

School Based Transportation Focused Monitoring by MSDE

Principals, please review the following information regarding school based Transportation Focused Monitoring by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Service’s Office of Quality Assurance and Monitoring.

Starting Wednesday, Feb. 1 the MSDE Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services will conduct a minimum of 21 on site visits to determine status of morning bus arrivals and afternoon bus departures. Please review the following information.

Letters to Parents Regarding Student Absences

Principals, Attendance Monitors, Counselors and School Support Network Staff, please note that the Office of Attendance and Truancy will begin mailing letters to parents of students with 10 or more unlawful absences.

The purpose of the letters is to notify parents about the number of student absences (as of Friday, Jan. 20), to allow parents an opportunity to discuss and/or update the absences with school staff and to obtain resources to assist with improving the number of absences. Once parents receive the letters, we expect the number of phone calls and parent walk-ins both at the schools and district office to increase. School Family Council Representative Updates

Principals, please update your School Family Council Representative via the Principal's Dashboard no later than Wednesday, Feb. 29.

School Family Council representatives have to be updated online via the Principal's Dashboard by Wednesday, Feb. 29. Once logged in, principals can visit the "School Family Council Representative" tab, make the appropriate updates and check the box that verifies the information updated is correct. Please note that all positions must be filled. For guidance on the process, please see the tip sheet. Principals can now access employee attendance data for January systemic professional development and all other professional development opportunities offered through the Professional Growth System. To access this information on the Principal's Dashboard please follow the attached instructions.
 

Mandatory Maryland Occupational Safety Health Administration (MOSHA) Posting Requirement

Principals and Payroll Administrators, please review the following documents regarding mandatory Maryland Occupational Safety Health Administration (MOSHA) posting requirements.

Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MOSHA) regulations (COMAR 09.12.21.01), require employers to maintain records for certain occupational injuries and illnesses. For purposes of this regulation, each school and administrative worksite is considered a separate “employer.” Under the regulation, each year, employers must post OSHA Form 300A “Summary of Work-related Injuries and Illnesses.” This form has been prepared for you by the Department of Health and Safety, however, it remains the responsibility of the administrator at each payroll location to review, sign and post the form.
