•  College Application Links and Resources
    • Senior Bragg Sheet- This bragg sheet is used to assist teachers in writing a meaningful and well-thoughout letter of recommendation.  The bragg sheet and the college resume will assist teachers in crafting the letter of recommendation.  Please remember, you are not simply dropping these forms off, you must take about 15 minutes to meet with the teacher to discuss anything that may not be clear or apparent between these to documents.
    • www.collegeboard.org - This website is an excellent resource in finding your college "fit."  Use the search tool to find colleges that meet your size, distance, academic, social, and overall requirements. 
    • www.commonapp.org - This website is home to the common application.  Many colleges and universities participate in the common application.  It allows you to complete one application for multiple schools.  Please pay close attention the supplemental and essay requirements for different schools.  They are not all the same.
    • PSAT - The PSAT is a preliminary practice for the SAT. It helps students identify strengths and weakness. Additionally, students can work on skills to improve SAT readiness.
    • SAT- The SAT is a test that many colleges use to help evaluate your college application and qualify for scholarships
    • ACT - The ACT is a test that many colleges use to help evaluate your college application and qualify for scholarships

    Financial Aid and Scholarships

    • www.fafsa.gov - The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the federal clearinghouse that helps colleges and universities determine a students eligibility for need-based aid.  Remember to qualify for federal funds, state funds, scholarships, and school-based aid you must complete a FAFSA.  The priority deadline is February 14. 
    • CSS Profile - The CSS Profile is the financial aid application service of the College Board -- a national, not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity. Many of the member colleges, universities, graduate and professional schools, and scholarship programs use the information collected on PROFILE to help them award nonfederal student aid funds.
    • www.collegeboundfoundation.org  The CollegeBound Foundation supports students and families throughout the college access process.  Beginning December 1, CollegeBound will open the new scholarship season.  There are over 90 scholarships available for students, but you only have to complete 1 application.  DEADLINE MARCH 1.
    • www.bcf.org  The Baltimore Community Foundation is a local scholarship provider that supports students across the academic spectrum with scholarships.  DEADLINE APRIL 1.
    • www.centralsb.org  The Central Scholarship Bureau is a local scholarship provider that has a variety of scholarships and no interest loans available for students.  There is one application and essay and several available scholarships.  DEADLINE MAY 1.
    • www.mhec.state.md.us  This is a great resource for MD residents to find lots of free MD MONEY!!  Maryland high school graduates can receive between $1500-$15000 worth of grant money for simply staying in Maryland and attending one of our great in-state institutions.

     November is College Awareness Month. Collegebound high school sites throughout the city are hosting college fairs for all students and families to attend! 
       
      CollegeBound Site-based High School College Fairs
      Monday - Thursday, November 14th - 17th
      CollegeBound is hosting free college fairs on site in CollegeBound-advised high schools for four consecutive days, assembling over 50 colleges and their representatives including military and Baltimore Police recruiters. These fairs give high school students crucial, first-hand access to college representatives.
