School History

Renaissance Academy was started in 2005 as a Innovation High School in Baltimore.  Renaissance was designed after a success urban charter school in Chicago called Noble Street Charter School. Originally the school was located at what was Southwestern High School, along with several other schools.

In 2006 we were moved to our currently location at the Booker T. Washington School Campus.  We still maintain our relationship with the Southwestern schools as we participate in some of  their athletics and sports programs.

Over the years, our students and our school has received many awards the most notable being named a 2010 Top High School in Baltimore City by Baltimore Magazine.  Through out our history we have endeavored to push students to their full potential.  We see this accolade as a marker on our way from being a good school to becoming a great school, and a place where we take good students and make them great students.
