    What We Do:

The Information Technology Department (ITD) is responsible for the acquisition, development, and support of technology tools and resources for Baltimore City Public Schools. ITD recognizes the critical role played by technology in the delivery of classroom instruction, as well as new opportunities for more effective communication for students, administrative and school-based staff.

In order to guarantee an environment that will promote achievement and learning, the Board of Baltimore City School Commissioners (the Board) supports access by students and employees to information resources that are applicable to the tasks associated with their obligations and duties in the classroom and workplace, respectively.

Information Technology plays a vital role in meeting the needs of the broad range of abilities, disabilities, cultural backgrounds and ethnic populations represented in this urban school district. To ensure that information technology serves a predominant function in the lives and work habits of students and employees, ITD strives to provide guidance for the appropriate use and integration of technology in the classroom and administrative environment.

Students and employees are expected to act in a considerate and responsible manner as users of information technology resources and, in the interest of that behavior, are required to become signatories to the Internet Safety/Acceptable Use of Technology Policy, previously adopted by the Board on December 13, 2011. The purpose of this policy is to support and guide the appropriate use of technology by City Schools employees and students.
