WELCOME!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

Welcome back to the 2014-2015 school year!  It is with great excitement and anticipation that we welcome many of you back and to greet others to our school community for the first time.  As the principal of Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts (AFSIVA), I can tell you personally that our school’s commitment to excellence is unsurpassed.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, you should know that we are working to ensure that our students have educational opportunities that will ensure a platform for success. The faculty and staff have worked enthusiastically throughout the summer to develop procedures, protocols, and instructional materials that will promote continued growth for each student and our school.

Student success is the goal of every staff member at AFSIVA. We believe with our new structure and dedication to high quality, research-based best practices, every student will learn to their full potential. We are prepared to offer time and support as needed. I ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day and assisting with the monitoring of their educational process.

We have an outstanding school, but I believe that we can always improve.  As such, please continue to support our school through our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and take advantage of the numerous opportunities to volunteer. In order to achieve the maximum educational growth for your child, a collaborative partnership between you and our school is needed and encouraged. Your involvement with your child’s education is vital to his/her academic success.

Please note our school’s hours have changed!  School will start promptly at 8:15 a.m. and will be dismissed at 3:05p.m.

Uniforms are on sale at the school!  Please visit the school any weekday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to buy uniforms at our special Back-to-School prices.

All parents are invited to attend our Welcome Back To School “Open House” on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Students and parents/guardians can tour the building, meet the teachers, purchase uniforms, receive information about our programs, and much more.  Dinner will also be served!

We continue to press forward knowing that this year will continue to yield promising results for our school. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 443-240-3881 or by e-mail at thicks@bcps.k12.md.us.

We look forward to a banner year!

 Sincerely,

 Tracy Hicks,

Principal
