This year’s first round of High School Assessment (HSA) testing is upon us.  Testing will begin on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 and end on
Friday. October 10, 2014.
Each day our high school students will report for a different test, American Government on Tuesday, Biology on Wednesday, English on Thursday and Algebra on Friday.

If your child has completed Algebra, American Government, English II, or Biology and did not pass the HSA, then he or she needs to retake the test.  Grade 9 students will not participate in this administration. Grade 10 students may participate in this administration for Algebra only.  According to state law, “Students who entered grade 9 in the fall of 2005 and later (COMAR 13A.03.02.09) must obtain either a passing score on all HSAs or obtain an overall combined score.”

Attached to this email is a notification regarding which test(s) your child must take.  Passing Scores for the HSAs are as follows:

Biology 400  Algebra/Data Analysis 412   English 396  American Government 394
Combined 1602

High school students who will report for testing may report at 7:45 for breakfast and must report to their testing room no later than 8:15 a.m.. Late students will not be accepted into testing, so please make sure your child attends school on time each day that he or she needs to report.  Students who do not need to take one of the tests will have a delayed start time and will report to school at 11:30 a.m. from October 7, 2014 through October 10, 2014.
