Happy New Year!
As we begin 2014, we continue to reflect on instruction and academic improvement at James McHenry and have recently undergone some key changes to support the instructional process. We have reorganized the configuration of the 2nd-8th grades. Changes to classroom organization will mean that students in the 6th grade will have two teachers and will rotate between them—one teacher for Language Arts and Social Studies and one for Science and Math. In the 7th and 8th grades, students will have four teachers and will rotate among them—one teacher for Language Arts, one teacher for Social Studies, one teacher for Science, and one teacher for Math.
In the Elementary School, some students in 2nd grade and all 3rd grade students, will have two teachers and will rotate between them—one teacher for Language Arts and Social Studies and one teacher for Math and Science. Students in 4th and 5th grades will have a similar configuration; they will have two teachers and rotate between them. One teacher will teach Language Arts and Social Studies and one teacher will teach Math and Science.
We initiated these changes in a way that will allow our teachers to continue to support the various needs of our students and we ask for your support of these transitions as we continue to improve the academic lives of our students!
