Welcome to Inner Harbor East Academy for Young School for the school year 2013-2014. As we start the year, it is a time to celebrate the successes of the past year, and look forward to the hopes and excitement of the year we are beginning. This coming year, all students in all grade levels will present their work publicly, to teachers, business partners, and parents. In this way, our students receive the recognition and feedback from their future employers and other adults in the community. It is also a way to help students see the connection between their school assignments and the world around them that reflects the hard work of faculty and students, and our commitment to high standards.
The Academy’s philosophy is that every child can and must succeed in school. Last year saw many outstanding accomplishments for our scholars and the Inner Harbor East community. Our commitment to the students, parents and community is to continue to provide the best classes, instruction and support for our students. In turn, the students must demonstrate the willingness, interest, perseverance and effort. Our faculty cares deeply for our students and their needs, but at the same time we hold high academic expectations for our students.
This will be another historic year for our school. We need to work together to improve our math scores and increase the number of advanced learners school wide. Moreover, we need to fulfill our dream of building a strong professional learning community and providing the quality education that all our students need and deserve.
Every teacher, administrator, and staff member at the Inner Harbor East Academy for Young Scholars stands ready to work with each and every student, so that all students can experience academic success and progress. Have a wonderful school year, and let’s work together as students, parents, community and educators, to reach our goals.
