Dear Parents and Guardians of Students in Grades 3-8:
Your child will be taking the PARCC assessment in April and May. Our testing window will run from April 20th to June 2nd, and each grade level will test for four days. You will find the specific testing dates for your grade level on the back of this letter.
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a statewide testing program that is a measure of student achievement to be on track for college and career in grades K through 12 for reading and mathematics.
Our school will be administering the PARCC assessment online. Although they have had some practice using these features during classroom instruction, students can have more practice at home by going on to https://parcc.pearson.com/practice-tests/ . Practice using the online tests will help them become more familiar with the feature and tools.
The most important help you can give your child is encouragement and support each day. You can make the test-taking process easier by conveying a positive attitude about the test, being well-rested, having a healthy breakfast, and being encouraged to do his or her best each day.
Excellent attendance during the test is critical. Your child has the best opportunity for success if he or she takes the test during the initial administration with the class. Please be sure that your child is here every day by 8:00 a.m., as testing begins promptly at 8:15 a.m.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping your child be successful on this important assessment. If you have any questions related to testing, please contact Ms. Randall, the testing coordinator or your child’s teacher.
