The Mount Washington School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) World School. We became an IB World School on August 11, 2014.
This website includes information about the logistics of the daily operations of the school, student life, and community involvement. You will find information about contacting the health suite, procedures students and parents are expected to follow during arrival and dismissal, and names and contact information for our various parent groups. The site also includes pertinent policies and calendars with important events that are scheduled every year.
Forms are available for pickup on Monday, April 4. Registration for new Kindergarten students begins on Wednesday, April 6, 9:00am to noon. Registration for new students in grades 1–8 begins on Wednesday, May 4, 9:00am to noon. Avoid the rush! Early registration is appreciated!
Parents enrolling students in Mount Washington who have never been to a Baltimore City Public School will need to bring the following for their child: Child’s Social Security card, Child’s birth certificate, Child’s immunization record (shot record), 2 Proofs of Residence (BGE bill, landline telephone bill, mortgage statement, government mail), Parent/guardian photo ID. In addition, parents enrolling students in Mount Washington from other schools will need to bring the Maryland Transfer form completed by the sending school.
Join us on Sauturday, May 14th from 6 pm to 10 pm at the Radisson Hotel in Cross Keys for the PTO annual fundraiser. Past auction items have included items such as gift cards to Target to vacation stays in Pennsylvania all ranging from $20 to over $1,000. It’s a fun-filled evening for the MWS community, with good food, exciting auction items, fun music and dancing.
School tours, for students and families interested in the Mount Washington School, will be held once a month (see calendar). All tours will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Lower Building, 5800 Smith Avenue, and will conclude by 10:30 a.m. in the Upper Building, 1801 Sulgrave Avenue. Tour capacity is limited; please call the main office at 410-396-6354 at least 24 hours in advance of the tour to register.
