Dear Parents and Students,

This year marks the beginning of a new and exciting school year.  The administration, instructional and support staff are looking forward to engaging you in a challenging and stimulating educational program.  The systemic focusis on Rigor, Engagement, and Intervention to create a culture of high achievement for all students. The Common Core Standards will serve as the framework for instruction.  Additionally, we will provide services according to your Individualized Education Program (IEP).  We will continue using the Styer-Fitzgeraldcurriculum in all instructional areas and incorporate the TEACCH Model.

Our school’s motto this year is “MISSION POSSIBLE.”  The staff here at George W. F. McMechen School will rise to the occasion to enhance student achievement.  We will do this by using technology in the classrooms, and ensuring that instruction is rigorous and differentiated instruction to meet your child’s needs.

We want the very best for your son or daughter. More importantly, we want you to have a successful school year. It is important that your child comes to school every day.  Not only do we need him or her to come everyday, but we need him or her to come prepared to follow directions, learn all he or she can, and give 110% effort towards being successful in and out of the classroom.

I look forward to the possibilities.
