Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome back toanother great year at Arundel Elementary/Middle School #164.  We look forward to working with your child,your family and the community as we build skills today that will lead ourchildren to success tomorrow.

We have many greatthings planned this school year. Our focus this year is to improve instructionand thus student achievement. Mr. Carpenter and the Instructional LeadershipTeam will work closely with teachers to sharpen instructional skills and withstudents to develop into self-directed learners. We will look to work with CitySchools and community partners to provide extracurricular activities(basketball, chess, robotics club etc).

Arundel’s 5th Annual Meet YourTeacher Day will be held on Friday, August 24th from 1:00-2:00. Backto School Night will be held on Wednesday, September 12th from5:00-7:00pm.  We look forward to seeing all of our parentsat this time.  You will have a chance tohear from me about the great things in store for your child this year atArundel as well as meet your child’s teacher and get a feel for what theirclassroom procedures and expectations are.

 
 Pleaseread the Arundel Cell Phone Policy carefully and review it with your child.This policy will be strictly enforced this year in order to ensure student andstaff safety.

School List weremailed home. Arundel Elementary/Middle will remain a uniform school. It isexpected that every child come to school in uniform everyday.  Elementary students should wear yellow topsand blue bottoms. Sixth through eighth grade students should wear navy blue shirtsand khaki bottoms. We appreciate your support in sending your child to schoolin uniform each and every day. Uniformshirts have been ordered and should be available for sale in the office by thestart of school at only $7 each – hurry! Only Available While Supplies Last.

 The first day of school for students isMonday August 27, 2012. Enjoythe remainder of your summer and if you come to the office, please feel free tostop and see me.
