Dear Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of the staff at Arundel, I am happy to welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our scholars achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order for our scholars to be successful in school, they need support at home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. We ask that you support the learning process by ensuring your child: 1) Attends school daily, arrives on time, in uniform, ready to work, listen and learn, 2) Adheres to the school’s behavior and academic expectations, 3) Completes daily homework assignments, 4) Reads every day to improve literacy skills, 5) Shares school experiences with you, 6) Informs you of needed additional support in any subject and 7) Knows that you expect excellence in school. Copies of the Student Handbook will be sent home within the first week of school.
Ms. Clea will act as the parent liaison and volunteer coordinator this school year. If you have any questions, concerns, would like to volunteer or meet with an administrator, please stop by the main office to speak to Ms. Clea. Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our scholars can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We are seeking volunteers to help us with the following activities: 1) Teacher-led instructional support, 2) Reading with children who need extra help, 3) School-wide events, 4) Student recognition events and 5) Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers.
Baltimore City Schools has invested in a new Visitor Management System. Per district policy, each visitor to Arundel must show a driver’s license or state ID to be registered once the system is active. Visitors will receive a badge to wear while in the building during every visit. We ask that you comply with the new policies to keep our scholars and staff safe.
