State Retirement and Pension System of Maryland (SRPS)
- All BTU and PSASA employees, some CUB and Unaffiliated (Determined by Job Title).
- Enrollment is MANDATORY!
- 3% Bi-weekly contribution, deducted from payroll.
- 3% - 7/1/06 - 6/30/07
- 4% - 7/1/07 - 6/30/08
- 5% - 7/1/08
- After five years of employment, you are vested in the system (entitled to a monthly benefit at retirement age)
- If your death occurs while in active employment, your designated beneficiaries will received lump sum payment equal to your annual reported salary.
- If employment is terminated, you may withdraw YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS.
State Retirement and Pension System of Maryland
To enroll in the State Retirement and Pension System of Maryland, you must complete:
Application for Membership (Form #1)
and
Designation of Beneficiary Form (Form #4)
and provide
A copy of your driver’s license, birth certificate or passport

Employee’s Retirement System (ERS)
- All Local 44 employees, CUB and Unaffiliated employees (Determined by Job Title).
- There is a one year waiting period before enrollment begins. You will be contacted by ERS to attend and orientation regarding your enrollment.
- Non-contributory system (no payroll deductions)
- After 10 years of enrollment, you are vested in the system (entitled to a monthly benefit at retirement age)
