  BCPSS School Police

Chief GoodwinToday, campus security is the most important element of the learning environment for all citizens in our city.  The concerns of parents, students, staff and the various stakeholders are paramount.  Our students and staff must feel the comfort of knowing that the learning environment is safe and conducive to learning.

In order to provide that level of safety necessary for academic achievement we must partner and develop relationships with various stakeholders in our city.  This focus will ensure the needed support for our children to maximize their academic growth in the classroom setting.

The School Police Force will work very closely with all stakeholders to ensure that our learning environments are safe for learning.  We will continue to provide professional development, particularly in the areas of gang activity and critical incidents to ensure rapid response to the various incidents which occur in and around our schools.

The most important tool is communication within and outside of the department with the various resources in support of our mission for safe schools.  Our partnership with the Baltimore City Police Department, the MTA police and other agencies will enhance our ability to have additional resources to support our overall mission to provide a safe environment for our children.

Together we can make a difference in our city to decrease the concerns of parents and students who attend our schools in Baltimore City.
.
The men and women of the School Police Force join me in pledging to ensure a safe learning environment for all students, staff and visitors.

Marshall T. Goodwin, Chief of Police. .

Officer of the Year
