Welcome to the Information Technology Department

The Baltimore City Public Schools System (BCPSS) recognizes that information / instruction technology changes and improves the method of communications and provides new opportunities and responsibilities for students, administrative and school-based staff, if it is implemented systematically and fully integrated. To guarantee an environment that will promote achievement and learning, the Board of Baltimore City School Commissioners (The Board) supports access by students and employees to information resources that are applicable to the tasks associated with their obligations and duties in the classroom and workplace, respectively.
Information Technology plays a vital role in meeting the needs of the broad range of abilities, disabilities, cultural backgrounds and ethnic populations represented in this urban school district. To ensure that information technology, indeed, serves a predominant function in the lives and work habits of students and employees, the Information Technology Department strives to provide guidance for the appropriate use and integration of technology into the curriculum and the workplace of the administration and management.
Students and employees are expected to act in a considerate and responsible manner as users of all information technology instruments and, in the interest of that behavior, are required to become signatories to the Technology Acceptable Use Policy, previously adopted by the Board on January 8, 2002 which provides terms and conditions that must be accepted by students, parents and legal guardians, the school and teaching staff, guests, consultants, administrative staff located in headquarters and satellite offices, as well as affiliated agencies.
