Pre Kindergarten
In prekindergarten, students are introduced to the world of school and to learnings in pre-reading and writing, social studies, mathematics, and science. Children acquire concepts and skills through music, movement, literature, dramatic play, and art. Activities take place in small and large group sessions and in learning centers. In addition to teacher-directed lessons, children have time to select their own learning activities.

How You Can Help
- Be sure your child eats breakfast and comes to school ready to learn.
- Read to your child at least 15 minutes a day.
- Sing songs and recite nursery rhymes with your child. Talk with your child about signs and words on labels, jars, and packages.
- Encourage your child when he or she tries to read and write.
- Talk about everyday happenings. Explain what you are doing and how things work.
- Let your child help with chores that include counting, sorting, measuring and cooking.
- Encourage your child to listen and follow directions. Be sure your child attends school regularly and is on time.
- Help your child resolve conflicts positively.
