Grade 5

Students in the fifth grade should be readers and thinkers. They engage in individual and cooperative learning activities that enable them to develop and apply skills and concepts in all subject areas. In social studies, students begin a formal study of United States geography and history. Students refine science skills as they conduct experiments and learn about the Chesapeake Bay, geology, and heat. Students use mathematics to solve a variety of multistep programs.
