Grade 10
In tenth grade, most students take English II, American government, geometry, and chemistry. Students may take other mathematics or science courses depending on the student's background, interests, and/or program of studies. Tenth graders enrolled in tech prep or occupational prep programs take introductory courses related to their career and technology education completer program.

How You Can Help
- Be sure your son/daughter attends school regularly and on time.
- Be sure your son/daughter eats breakfast and is ready to learn.
- Encourage your son/daughter to listen and follow directions.
- Praise your son/daughter.
- Encourage your son/daughter to use geometric skills at home, e.g., designing floor plans, measuring length, volume, and area.
- Determine post graduation career plans.
- Make sure that your son/daughter is following a course sequence leading to graduation. Have him/her take the PSATs and go to college fairs.
- Act as an audience while your son/daughter practices making a speech he or she has written for school.
- Encourage your son/daughter to use the library/media center, television or the Internet, to explore topics related to chemistry.
- Help your son/daughter understand how subjects are used in the real world and in careers.
