POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Chief Executive Officer, Baltimore City Public Schools , is seeking individuals meeting the minimum qualifications for the following position:


SCHOOL POLICE OFFICER I
($19.32-$24.59 hourly)

Under the leadership of the School Police Sergeant, the School Police Officer I participates in formal and on-the-job training programs to achieve and maintain Maryland Police Training Commission (MPTC) and Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS) requirements for School Police Officers.  Performs routine police operation or administrative support duties as allowed by training, commission, or departmental status.

Qualified applicants must possess the following:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Maryland Class C Non-commercial Drivers' License or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Must successfully complete entry-level police officer training as certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission (MPTC) and certification by MPTC as a Police Officer vested with full authority under the Annotated Code of Maryland within 18 months of employment.
  • Must successfully complete on-the-job training as determined by the BCPSS Chief of School Police.
  • Must pass a physical, psychological, and drug test.
  • Must authorize release of prior employment, credit history, and criminal conviction information.
  • Must pass background record investigation and federal, state and local fingerprint checks.

  • Must provide a copy of Valid Maryland Class C Non-commercial Drivers' License or equivalent.
