Baltimore, the 17th largest and 9th most affordable city in the United States, is named "Charm City" for its residents' well established concern for the quality of life. Weather: Baltimore enjoys a relatively mild climate thanks to its proximity to the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, but there can be high humidity in summer with severe thunderstorms and hurricanes possible in late summer and early autumn. Rain fall averages 40 inches per year and snowfall around 22 inches with clear skies 29 percent of the time. Temperatures in January are 28 to 42 degrees Fahrenheit while in July you can expect 69 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
