About Topic Boards

Back to Adapted Library page

Suggested questions have been developed that connect to a 9-location, 20-location, or 56-location communication topic board.

Nine-location, 20-location, and 56-location communication topic boards are single sheets of paper, or communication board(s) with 9, 20, or 56 Picture Communication Symbols which relate directly to the book. Upon being asked a question from a given file, the non-verbal student would use the 9-location symbols to answer questions and interact with the teacher/parent.The number of symbols correlates with the cognitive ability of the child. A 56-location communication topic board provides 56 Picture Communication Symbols, and therefore is a more complex vocabulary choice than the 9-location communication topic board that provides 9 Picture Communication Symbols
